Asian Flu: Yao Sidelined for Jazz-Rockets with Respiratory Infection
Houston center Yao Ming sat out the Rockets' game Sunday against Utah with an upper respiratory infection.
The 7-foot-6 Yao, voted the starting center for the Western Conference for the All-Star game on Feb. 17, told team officials he felt sick when he arrived at the Toyota Center for a workout on Sunday morning, coach Rick Adelman said.
"The doctors looked at him and they don't think it's worth the chance,'' Adelman said. "We'll just have to move on.''
Yao, leading the Rockets with 22.1 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, had started every game this season. Adelman planned to start either Carl Landry or Luis Scola, both NBA rookies, in Yao's place.
"The only thing that really changes for us is the fact that, without Yao, there's nobody with a low-post presence he has,'' Adelman said. "As far as our offense, Carl or Luis, they're interchangeable. Defensively is where there are some things we're going to have to be aware of.''
Yao averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds against Utah in the first round of last year's playoffs.

One-legged McGrady leads Rockets' rally over Sonics

BEIJING, Jan. 24-- Proving a one-legged Tracy McGrady is still a threat to be reckoned with, the Houston forward scored 18 of his 28 points in the second half as the Rockets rallied to defeat the SuperSonics 109-107 in Seattle.

Athens Travel Guide

The capital of Greece is a huge modern city, but one with old roots and many many monuments dating back to the dawn of civilization.
The main monument to visit is of course the Acropolis, the hill upon which the Parthenon and other important sites are located. The climb can be hot, but it is worth your while.
The Plaka is one of the nicest areas of town: ideal for shopping and wandering through cobblestone streets or sitting down in one of the many tavernas.

Athens is a good base for exploring the region: Epidaurus, Corinth and Mycenae can all be see on a trip from the capital, Cape Sounion, Delphi and Marathon (42 km away) are also good options.
Pireaus is the port of Athens. It is a very dirty place but also the place to start your trip to the greek islands.
Athens hosted the 2004 Olympics.

Duncan Helps Spurs Kick Lakers

San Antonio 103, L.A. Lakers 91
SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 23 (AP) -- With his team down nine points at halftime, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich went with an intellectual, rather than emotional, appeal on Wednesday night.
"'You have to participate in your recovery,''' recounted guard Brent Barry. "I think that stuck with us. When things aren't going well, and you're not playing well, you can't sulk.''
Something in Popovich's address must have clicked for the Spurs, because their second half against the Los Angeles Lakers looked a lot better than their first in a 103-91 win.
Tim Duncan had 28 points and 17 rebounds, and Ime Udoka scored a season-high 18 points in the Spurs' second straight victory.
"Pop didn't say much at halftime. He didn't want to come in here screaming and yelling, but he did mention getting the ball into people's hands,'' Udoka said.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 29 points and 12 rebounds, and Ronny Turiaf scored 14 points. Sasha Vujacic and Lamar Odom added 11 points apiece.
The Lakers still beat the Spurs off the glass (48-35) and in the paint (44-30), but they had a costly 22 turnovers -- Bryant had nine of those -- to give up 27 points.

T-Mac Ignites Rockets’ Rally That Burns Sonics

Houston 109, Seattle 107
SEATTLE, Jan. 23 (AP) -- Kevin Durant wants to eventually model his game after Tracy McGrady.
Durant got a view Wednesday night of just how good McGrady is, even with a gimpy leg.
Nursing a left knee injury, McGrady put together a second half that showed even with one good leg he's still one of the best in the game. McGrady scored 18 of his 28 points in the second half and took over in the final 90 seconds, both scoring and passing, helping the Rockets rally to beat the SuperSonics 109-107.
McGrady was responsible for Houston's final eight points, scoring five himself and setting up Rafer Alston's 3-pointer with 16 seconds left that gave Houston a four-point lead Seattle couldn't overcome.
"Tonight was a huge jump in getting back to my old self,'' McGrady said.
Seattle would have preferred not to see any signs of the old McGrady. Instead, McGrady was largely responsible for Seattle's 12th straight loss, the worst single-season losing streak in franchise history. And this one might be the most painful.

Shopping in HK

It is true that Hong Kong is a fantastic place for shopping. People could see brands which never appear in Mainland China, such as Miss Sixty, Salad, B+AB, Bread n Butter, and so on. Though the price is much higher, the style is really much pretty and of much variety.
Having been in HK for master study for almost four months, I have been shopping in many plazas, Harbor City in Jian Sha Cui, Langham Place in Monkok, Festival Walk in Kowloon Toon. Today I went to New City Plaza in Sha Tian. The same grand, the same brands, and the same luxury. When mentioning this, I really want to comment that HKers are so lucky to have money to enjoy life and have work to earn money. Thinking the vanity of Mainland, I am gona to hope that Mainland’s economy rushing upper and upper.

Rockets seek consistency at midway point

HOUSTON -- The Rockets have managed to hang in the Western Conference playoff chase despite some struggles in the first half of the season.
Now, the Rockets are hoping to make their move up the standings with a strong second half.
"I'm not too happy about where we're at right now," Rockets point guard Rafer Alston said. "I though we'd have a better record. But we are above .500 and we're right there for the seventh and eighth (playoff spot). We're getting healthy so there's a lot of room for improvement and we have the components for making a good run at it."
On Wednesday, Alston and Co. will begin their second-half push.
Despite being mentioned among the preseason favorites in the West, the Rockets have had an up-and-down first half. They are anticipating a grind towards the playoffs as they begin the second half of the season Wednesday night against Seattle.
The Rockets (22-19) are 10th in the West after spending much of the first half developing a rhythm within Rick Adelman's high-motion offensive scheme.
They've won without Tracy McGrady and have received surprising contributions from their trio of rookies -- Luis Scola, Aaron Brooks and Carl Landry.
Big wins have even been sprinkled in along the way. Houston has beaten the league's defending champs -- San Antonio -- twice and scored a big road win over Phoenix.
Still, there's ground to make up. The good news is that no team in the West is running away from the pack. Through Monday's action, only seven games separated the top 10 teams in the conference.
Houston is only two games behind Golden State for the eighth and final playoff slot.
"We've had our ups and downs, but we're still in good shape," Rockets forward Chuck Hayes said. "We're on the outside looking in, but we're not far."
The biggest question mark heading into the season's second half is McGrady's status.
Even though he's provided productive minutes off the bench in the past two games, the Rockets' All-Star shooting guard is still playing with a noticeable limp after missing 11 games with a left knee injury. He hasn't had his usual lift on jumpers or the typical spring in his step on drives towards the basket. For now, he's playing through the pain.
Sure, the Rockets managed to go 7-4 during the star's most recent absence. But the Rockets also realize they need McGrady's ability to create for everyone else.
"I just felt like that's what our team was missing when I was out," McGrady said. "If I don't make the shot, I still bring attention to me."
During McGrady's time out, the Rockets did develop a better flow within Adelman's offensive system. Alston raised his scoring average to double figures by attacking the lane more and Houston got significant contributions from Luther Head, Scola and Brooks.
"We've been attacking more," Alston said. "We haven't waited to see how we're going to flow and who's going to get us going. We've got to continue to be aggressive even with Tracy back in the lineup."
Not everything has gone well over that stretch without McGrady.
In what has been a disturbing trend of late, the Rockets haven't been able to finish games with ease after building comfortable advantages. Despite building a 16-point lead over Philadelphia on Jan. 15, the Rockets coughing up the game in the fourth quarter. Houston had nine turnovers -- most of which came on entry passes to Yao Ming.
Even with McGrady back, those issues have persisted. If the Rockets are going to get back in the playoffs, they know they can't continue to give games away.
"We just have to continue to do what gets us leads," Rockets forward Shane Battier said. "When you play aggressively and play good team defense, that's what affords you a lead. At the end of a game, especially when a team tries to get you out of your comfort zone, you lose sight of that. You have to remind yourself constantly what's good for you -- aggressive play."
Despite all the preseason talk about transforming into an offensive-minded team, the Rockets know they'll still be relying on their defense to reach the postseason.
Judging by their defensive efforts this season, that looks promising. The Rockets are holding opponents to 43.8 percent shooting -- second only to Boston. Only one of Houston's past 10 opponents have reached the 100-point plateau.
"They're one of the three best defensive teams in the league," Seattle coach P.J. Carlesimo said. "You don't get a lot of easy stuff going to the rim and they got a great perimeter defender (in Battier)."
Still, the Rockets will need a stronger second half to the season if they're going to be playoff-bound.
The good news is that they aren't out of the race after an up-and-down first half of the season.
"We've got to take care of how we play," Alston said. "We have to worry about us winning our games instead of looking at what the other teams are going to do. We should be alright if we take care of our game."

You need multiple streams of income if you want to gain financial freedom.
December 27, 2007 – 12:24 pm | by Chuva
I know a lot of you are entrepreneurs. Most of you are probably blogging because of the opportunities that it presents, earning money while blogging is a great opportunity. However, have you tried selling items on eBay? Many vendors can be found online and it can provide added income if you’re innovative in pricing your items. I was able to purchase wholesale jewelries that I now sell on my online store and at times, you can sell your items for 100% profit!
Remember the lesson about multiple streams of income. If you diversify and dabble in different types of businesses, you can multiply your blogging income as much as two or three times. LightInTheBox is an online vendor who sells products from China. The trick is to buy your products at wholesale prices. Some of them have a minimum amount that you have to purchase, but others don’t. All you need is a very small capital to get you started and it’s well worth it.
I usually do product testing before going full blast. I buy a little bit of this and a little bit of that. List them on eBay and see if there is a market. You can find out immediately by searching for past sales by other eBay sellers and see how much they sell the product for. Once you’ve gotten the amount that the product sells for, do an average and price your item for that much.
If you want financial freedom, you should expand your income streams. Use one profit as an investment to another and you will find that there are plenty of opportunities waiting to be tapped. The keyword, is multiple streams of income. As I’ve always said, if you can dream it - you can have it.

Iphone or Itouch?
Filed under: Entertainment, Internet — Claudia @ 11:54 am
I want to introduce you the I-Phone. It is beautiful, isn’t? It is my next dream. I am still paying for some gadgets I bought so I can’t go on and just buy this beauty.I heard a lot about it though. Using it as a cell phone is just one small feature it has. You can watch movies, see your pictures, listen to music and many other things that will make you, the happy gadget lover, the most happy person on Earth.
I would be really happy if I get one of those.
It is not that hard to buy it, and the price is not so expensive. Some stores are making sales at this time of the year, and IPhone is on the list of many people.
You can buy it unlocked in some stores like LightInTheBox. They promise to sell the IPhone ready to be used. Oh, by the way. It is being selling with no ship charges.
Before going on and buying this amazing gadget see if you don’t want the ITouch instead of IPhone. They are really similar.
I was thinking about buying the ITouch because I thought I wouldn’t use it as a cell phone. Now that I know where to find an unlocked IPhone I am wondering if I buy ITouch or IPhone.
I have a lot of time to decide. It is better for me.

Back to HK
Today i came back HK from my hometown in Mainland. It also is a bit cold, though not as cold as Beijing. I came back by train. In this period, many students and workers came back home from Beijing to cellebrate the luner spring festival with their families, so the train was truely crowded. It was quite hard to transfer from on section to the other. But i was so lucky to meet many warm-hearted North-East people. They are talkative and they help carry my luggage which really bring convinience a lot. This experience gave me a warm impression of North-East People.
